Don Quackers: Bubble Revenge was a game made by myself and friends made for Global Game Jam 2025. My roll in the production of the game was as a technical designer.Â
The objective of this game jam was to make a game in Godot as none of my team were familiar with the engine. Futhermore I and the other technical designer want to write the game in C# to show a greater knowlage of the langauge over multiple engines.
The theme of Game Jam 2025 was Bubbles! My team ended up landing on the idea of a Jetpack Joyride type of game where the concept was to live as long as possible while being thematiclly accurate to the breif. Our twist on this concept was to give player (Don Quakers) a limited fuel resource and allow the player to refill it by tactically shooting fuel bubbles they had to collide with to regain fuel. Dirty bubbles (Detergent Dan) spawned off screen and travelled towards the player, when they collided with the dirty bubbles the game ended.
Within this project my role as technical designer consisted of:
Developing a procedural spawning algorithm to spawn bubbles within the play area which increased in difficulty overtime.
Developing bubble logic for both clean and dirty bubbles.
Game state logic (game start and end)
A minor part of the shooting logic
Helped with the implimentation of audio assets
Gameplay balancing
